Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the elderly with subjective tinnitus clinically according to the degree of hearing loss.

Materials and Methods: Ninety five patients above 40years old with subjective tinnitus were investigated. All patients were undergone following format 1) history taking 2) neuro-otologic examination 3) tinnitus questionnaire 4) general hematologic test 5) radiologic test 6) audiologic evaluations including pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry and brain stem evoked response audiometry 7) tinnitus evaluation including pitch match frequency, loudness match, minimal masking level and residual inhibition. We divided patients to normal hearing group, high frequency hearing loss group and sensorineural hearing loss group, then compared and analysed results among groups.

Results: In sensorineural hearing loss group, characteristics of tinnitus weres noise than pure tone and loudness match level (dBSL) was smaller, but, annoyance was greater. There were more type V and type III at masking curves in sensorineural hearing loss group that was different from the other groups in which type IV was the most frequent. Being in a noisy place was more important aggravating factor in sensorineural hearing loss group than the other groups.

Conclusion: Clinically, tinnitus in sensorineural hearing loss group was different from that in normal hearing group and high frequency hearing loss group at some results.
